Easter what is the hype about?

I really don’t have to walk anyone through Christ’s suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection. Whether you’re a believer or not, at sometime in your life someone would have told you that a man named Jesus was tortured, humiliated and crucified in order for mankind to be saved.

Sadly as true as the above is, I have to say that the meaning of Easter, as is the case with Christmas, has been lost. Easter has been commercialized, and has become just another long weekend.

The fact is Easter is also the time of the original passover. The passover celebrates Israel’s liberation from Egypt when the Israelites slaughtered a lamb and used its blood to mark their door posts in order for, the Angel of Death to pass them over when all Egypt’s 1st born males were killed.

With this in mind, Jesus thus became the ultimate pass over lamb. His blood is now on every believers door post (heart). Jesus was the perfect sacrificial lamb, he was without blemish (sin). His blood is on the door post (heart) of every believer so that the Angel of Death passes over the believers in order for believers to have EVERLASTING LIFE.

The difference between the original passover lambs and Jesus is this: The original passover lambs were chosen by Israel whereas Jesus chose to become our passover lamb. He chose to lay down His life, so that we would be guaranteed freedom from the stronghold of sin.

God loved us so much, that He gave His Son Jesus, who in turn CHOSE to lay down His life, in order for us to have forgiveness from sin and thus qualify for everlasting life, free from sin and condemnation.

God and Jesus’ love for us is wrapped up in Easter. Our salvation was secured on the cross.

Thank you Jesus, for loving and sacrificing yourself for me more than 2000 years ago.
