I have become a laughingstock…..

Job 2:4“I have become a laughingstock to my friends, though I called on God and he answered— a mere laughingstock, though righteous and blameless!

5Those who are at ease have contempt for misfortune
as the fate of those whose feet are slipping.
Since really meeting the Lord and having invited the Holy  Spirit to dwell within me, the Lord has blessed me by speaking to me, and showing me the things He needs me to see.
When speaking to someone I would often say I know this and that and I will see a look on the person’s face that says “yeah right” or “he is lieing” or even “they are right…he has lost his mind.” I have heard of people people gossiping and even making fun of me because of my faith.
My reason for writing this post isn’t to boast about my faith, or to whine because people are poking fun at me, it is to show that this kind of reaction is to be expected.
As my previous post highlighted Jesus warned us that the persecution of believers would intensify. Noah was mocked for building an ark in the desert even though he was obeying God. The apostles were flogged, imprissoned, stoned, beheaded, etc for their faith. As mentioned in Matthew 24 Jesus predicted that this would happen.
I have said things that the Lord told and showed me to people and people have reacted differently to what I have told them. Some accept what I tell them, but very often their reaction is “well why would God tell you this but not me, what makes you so special?” The fact is that maybe God has been trying to speak to them and they haven’t been listening. In many instances I simply can’t answer the question because I don’t know either. All we can do is to be obedient and do what God tells us to do.
We agree that the God we serve has been the same since the beginning of time, that He hasn’t changed. Yet in the bible times He spoke to His people. He dwelled amongst Israel while they were in the wilderness. He communicated with and through the various prophets. But if someone says that God told him something today we become sceptical, why? Why won’t God speak to us today?
God speaks to us today, I can testify to it. People will be sceptical, or even call you a liar to your face if you said that God has spoken to you. We were warned that would happen. Job says that he became a laughingstock to his friends, so did Noah. However it didn’t stop them from doing what God told them, and in the end God justified them.
